Slimming Chocolate Brownies: Low-Calorie Indulgent Recipe

Chocolate Brownies Slimming World Style!

Craving something sweet while following a Slimming World plan can be a real challenge. After several attempts I developed these Chocolate Brownies Slimming World Style. They won’t masquerade as full-fat brownies, and I’m honest about that — but they do deliver a satisfying sweet hit with far less fat than a traditional recipe.

Baking with low-fat and sugar-reduced ingredients can sometimes produce a slightly bland or “cardboardy” texture; it’s a common challenge with reduced-fat recipes. These brownies, however, have very little fat and come together nicely when you follow the steps below. I made them a few times — starting from some less successful batches — and the result is now a treat I’m happy to share.

Black Beans For Chocolate Brownies?

Yes — black beans. They have a mild flavor, are low in calories, and when pureed create a smooth base for these brownies. Don’t dismiss the idea until you’ve tried it; the beans add bulk and moisture without the need for flour or large amounts of fat.

Other Unusual Ingredients in this Brownie Recipe

There are a couple of other non-traditional ingredients in the recipe that help with flavor and texture: reduced-sugar hot chocolate sachets and a chocolate-flavoured syrup (Choc Shot). Both are easy to find in many supermarkets and help create the chocolatey taste you expect from a brownie while keeping calories and fat lower than usual.

Next time I might experiment with a little grated beetroot for extra moisture and natural sweetness — I’ll report back if I try it.

Look at That Bake!

These brownies look great and can be finished with a drizzle of agave nectar for extra shine and sweetness.

The All Important Deets

Syn values will vary depending on the products used; these are approximate examples based on named ingredients:

  • Options Hot Chocolate (reduced sugar) – 4 Syns (total for sachets used)
  • 1 level tablespoon Choc Shot – 2 Syns
  • 2 level tablespoons Dark Chocolate Chips – 8 Syns
  • 2 tablespoons Agave Nectar – 5 Syns

Total approximate Syns: 19. Cut into 9 pieces = roughly 2 Syns per piece.

To Serve Your Slimming Brownies

These brownies are perfect with a cup of tea as a teatime treat. I find the texture improves overnight, so they’re often better the next day. Feedback so far has been positive — I’ve shared them with friends and family and had good reviews.

Please try them and let me know what you think!
