What to expect when arriving at Anchor Down
On arrival, we were welcomed by friendly staff who efficiently handled check-in and directed us to our site. The campground is exceptionally well maintained—manicured grounds, attractive pavers, and some sites even include stone fireplaces. The overall cleanliness and landscaping stood out immediately.
The lake views are impressive, with the Great Smoky Mountains forming a scenic backdrop. We stayed one row back from the water and enjoyed unobstructed views during our visit. A short video captured the atmosphere and vistas of the property.
We booked our spot on a whim just two days before arrival and lucked into site #132, a pull-through with full hookups, roomy enough for our large rig. At $59 per night, it felt like a great value for a premium site. Many guests noted that popular lake-view sites often require reservations well in advance, so planning ahead is advised if you want a specific location.

We and our dogs enjoyed Anchor Down—especially the dog park, which we visited several times daily. Sites offer enough space to set up awnings, cooking stations, and seating areas comfortably. Even with larger gatherings nearby, there was plenty of room and a relaxed atmosphere.
Anchor Down combines a luxury resort feel with reasonable pricing, making it an attractive option for RV travelers. It pairs well with other campground experiences—each location brings its own amenities, vibe, and price point, so there’s something to suit many tastes and budgets.
