A plus size clothing review of Arula (formerly A’Beautiful Soul). Stylish, trendy plus size clothing for sizes 10–24.

Arula has quickly become one of my favorite plus size clothing brands. I only discovered it last year and wanted to share because many plus size options can feel geared toward older styles. Arula’s pieces feel youthful, on-trend, and versatile.

This is not sponsored — I’m sharing Arula because I think the brand deserves more visibility. Compared to much of the plus size market, their quality and selection stand out.
Arula is owned by Altar’d State and was previously branded as A’Beautiful Soul before becoming Arula.
Arula store locations
I’m lucky to have an Arula about half an hour from me (outside Boston). The brand is expanding, with many locations attached to Altar’d State stores. While Arula currently operates in the United States, they do offer shipping to Canada.

Arula sizing
Arula carries women’s sizes 10–24 and labels its extended sizing as XL–3X. Their size system uses letters (X, A, B, C) rather than the typical 1X–3X, so it’s helpful to consult their size chart when shopping.
Does Arula run true to size?
Generally, Arula runs generous. I wear about a 3X/24W and can fit into either a B or C in tops and dresses, depending on the desired fit. Jeans can run large, though a personal try-on in store felt true to size for me. Note that many of Arula’s dresses run slightly short—I’m 5’2”, so length may vary by height. In cooler weather I pair dresses with microfiber tights.
Does Arula have sales?
Arula frequently runs sales. Their regular prices can be higher (shirts in the $60s, dresses in the high $70s), so I often wait for BOGO 50% off promotions, which commonly include dresses, tops, and jeans. They rotate offers weekly, so it’s easy to find deals.
The sale section often includes items under $20–30, and in my experience, in-store sale selections can sometimes be better than online.

Lana Dress
The monochromatic black Lana dress has a subtle checked texture that reads like plaid or buffalo check—festive enough for holiday wear. It’s a mini dress that can be worn on or off the shoulder. I paired it with microfiber tights and Chelsea boots for a cozy, polished look.
The Chelsea boots I wear come in wide widths with memory foam insoles, which makes them comfortable for walking and easier to fit around calves compared with some styles.

Daniela Top
The Daniela top is one of my go-to baby doll tops—I own it in multiple patterns. It’s designed to be slightly oversized and flowy, so it can fit more fitted in a B or roomy in a C. The top features pleated tiers and a lettuce-edge trim, making it easy to dress up or layer for colder months.

I often buy a favorite style in multiple colors or prints. Seasonal florals and burgundy holiday patterns are especially pretty. I’d love to see a long-sleeve Daniela someday—I’d be first in line.

Tallulah Dress
The Tallulah dress is my favorite Arula style. I own it in multiple patterns and sleeve lengths. It’s fitted at the waist with elastic, while the skirt and sleeves remain flowy and flattering. The tiered skirt adds movement and femininity—something I hadn’t embraced before but now really love.

I was excited when the Tallulah appeared in a long-sleeve version for fall. It’s a great choice for holiday events or Thanksgiving—pair it with tights and booties for a cozy, dressed-up look.

Fifi Dress
The Fifi dress echoes the Daniela top with pleated tiers and a babydoll silhouette. It’s flowy, flattering, and comfortable enough for everyday wear yet easy to dress up. I wore mine frequently over the summer. And the best part: it has pockets.
Arula review
Overall, I’m a big fan of Arula. Their combination of trendy styles and solid construction is rare in the plus size market. A few areas for improvement include broader size inclusivity—extended sizes to 4X or 5X would be welcome—and offering more midi-length and slightly longer dress options.
Despite those opportunities, Arula delivers many flattering, wearable pieces that I reach for often. I’ll keep an eye on new arrivals and share finds and sale alerts on Instagram.
