Did you ever play Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego as a kid? My sister owned that game, but even she would have been surprised to learn the photos below are from Texas.
We recorded 12.4 inches of snow — a local record. That may not seem like much to northerners, but this isn’t Boston, and for us it was extraordinary.
Call me crazy, but I’ve always wanted to run in the snow — just to see what it felt like.
So I pulled on Thorlos running socks, lowered my expectations, and went for it.
Verdict: it was fun. I couldn’t run as fast as usual, and speedwork was out of the question, but running through packed snow on the sidewalks (about three to four inches) was a solid workout — a lot like running through sand. I had worried about wet feet, but the Thorlos held up well. Best of all, the scenery was amazing.
When I got back I flopped into the snow, iPod and all, to make a snow angel. I lay there for a few minutes with a huge smile on my face.
It was peaceful. I could have stayed longer, but I was starting to get wet.

(Yes, that’s my funny pink hat — I chose comfort over style and ran in it.) Breakfast was calling, though, in all its melted-banana glory:
The famous Banana Brulee Oatmeal. I also sprinkled on a few coconut shavings — I’m not a huge fan, but they were on the counter and added a little texture.
