Even though I don’t suffer from celiac disease, I choose to go gluten-free as much as possible.
If you suspect you have a sensitivity to gluten or notice you don’t feel your best after eating it, you are not alone. Many people experience non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), and I count myself among them.
Gluten is a protein present in grains such as wheat and rye. It’s common in bread, cereals, pasta and many processed foods, and it’s responsible for that chewy texture we associate with these items. While most people tolerate gluten without issue, for others it can cause significant discomfort. If you experience any of the following symptoms or conditions, gluten may be contributing to your problems:
- Frequent bloating, gas, stomach pain or general digestive trouble
- IBD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, or ulcerative colitis
- Autoimmune conditions
- Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s disease
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Skin conditions such as psoriasis, alopecia areata, or hives (urticaria)
- Depression or anxiety
- Chronic headaches, persistent fatigue, or brain fog
I loved gluten as much as anyone. But struggling with PCOS and autoimmune symptoms linked to an unhealthy gut took a real toll on my quality of life. To identify triggers, I followed an elimination diet similar to my Clean-in-15 program and removed common offenders, including gluten. Within about ten days I noticed a dramatic shift: my energy improved, bloating decreased, and my urticaria flares stopped. That marked the beginning of my healing journey. During the reintroduction phase, it became clear that gluten was a trigger for me.
Admitting that was difficult. Eliminating gluten for a short time was manageable, but the idea of giving up some favorite foods indefinitely felt daunting. Over time, and with continued gut healing, I reached a balance: I mostly avoid gluten but can enjoy it occasionally without major setbacks.
These days there are many gluten-free products on the market. However, finding options that actually taste good and aren’t loaded with starches, additives, or other gut-disrupting ingredients can be tough. That’s why I’m excited about Everiday’s gluten-free range. Their products are made with a handful of real-food ingredients and deliver good flavor without unnecessary fillers. My goal with Ri’s was to offer alternatives that let people enjoy familiar foods while still supporting their health journey, and Everiday aligns with that mission. I hope you enjoy the range as much as I do.
