Whip up these easy Zombie Halloween Rice Krispie Treats for a fun, kid-friendly party idea. With a handful of ingredients, you can make adorable little zombie cones the kids will love.
I’ll admit it—I avoid scary movies and haunted houses. I prefer baking and crafting, especially when it comes to holidays. Halloween is one of my favorites because it’s an opportunity to create cute, non-scary treats and simple projects the whole family can enjoy.

To kick off Halloween crafting, here are an easy, playful take on classic Rice Krispie treats — turned into zombie cones. They’re quick to make, kid-approved, and perfect for a party or an at-home activity.

What You Need for Zombie Halloween Rice Krispie Treats
- Rice Krispie treat base (recipe below)
- 8–10 sugar or wafer ice cream cones
- 12 semi-sweet chocolate chips plus 3 tablespoons extra melted for “X” eyes
- 12 oz. green candy melts (or white candy melts + green food coloring)
- Optional: round pink sprinkles for cheeks

How to Make Zombie Halloween Rice Krispie Treats
- Prepare the Rice Krispie treat mixture following the recipe below. Let it cool slightly so it’s workable but still warm.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the mixture into the bottom of each cone to create a base fill. This keeps the topping secure.
- Form the remaining mixture into compact, pressed balls roughly 3 inches across. Press each ball onto the filled cone so it looks like a scoop. Allow them to set for 15–20 minutes.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Melt 3 tablespoons of chocolate at 50% power in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Transfer the melted chocolate to a small plastic bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe little “X” shapes on the parchment to make eyes. Let them harden.
- Melt the green candy wafers according to package instructions. Spoon or drizzle the melted candy over each Rice Krispie cone, smoothing with a knife or spatula so the surface is covered.
- While the candy coating is still wet, attach a chocolate chip (point-side down) for the pupil, press one hardened “X” eye next to it, and add two pink sprinkles for cheeks if using. Press gently so each piece adheres to the coating.
- Serve the zombie cones on a platter, or individually wrap them in clear bags for gifting. They also look cute with a seasonal gift tag or label.
Yield: Makes about 8–10 zombie cones, depending on how much Rice Krispie mixture you use per cone.
